STRESS CAN HAVE A HUGE IMPACT ON OUR LIVES, READ ON TO DISCOVER WHY LEARNING TO PLAY THE GUITAR CAN IMPROVE YOUR WELLBEING.

SOME STRESS-BUSTING RESEARCH

Research has shown links between adults who play an instrument and lower blood pressure, lower stress levels, decreased heart rate plus a reduction in anxiety and depression – so learning to play the guitar really is the ultimate cure for stress.

The ability to take a few moments for you away from work, the stresses of homework or just the general hustle and bustle of life to practice some chords has a healing effect on the mind. Try it after a particularly busy day to see the difference.

MAGICAL MINDFULNESS

Playing the guitar either at home alone or in a group guitar lesson allows you to focus on total mindfulness by focusing on the here and now. This will enable you to forget about past or future worries for a while and can give you some time to yourself without any distractions. Shred those chords and push your worries to the back of your mind!

SOCIAL BENEFITS

There are also plenty of social benefits attached to learning to play the guitar, especially if you’re opting for group lessons. Getting together with a like-minded collection of people with a shared interest allows you to meet new friends and forge a new network with a love of guitars.

Playing the guitar can also help lift the mood when you’re at home with friends, but you might need to spend a little while practising a few songs first!

A BIG CONFIDENCE BOOST

If your confidence has taken a bit of a battering lately, learning a new skill such as the guitar can give you a real sense of achievement and help you gain confidence thanks to your new musical ability.

By setting yourself the goal of learning to play the guitar, you can work towards the objective at your own pace and feel accomplished each and every time you nail a new chord or song.

Musician during Pandemic

It been almost 2 years since the coronavirus pandemic began… As a musician myself who used to live a normal life like millions of other people who work in the music industries.

Online teaching is something that I never link to my teaching career or even my learning path. To maintain my teaching career as well my earning my living, I have to venture into “teaching thru computer”. I am not gadgets craze person thus getting gadget like my colleagues will not be my first choice. With some of my knowledge & read up thru magazines as well online forum end up with a USB condenser mic plus an open back headphone. Which turn out to be satisfying.

From trial and error in the beginning to now I might be able to give a little suggestion to those who just begin to go online. From face to face to online, printed scores to digital, physical examination to pre-recorded examination, recital to online recital… I even completed few online courses myself which turn out to be amazing experiences for me.

Some of my colleagues and students who are reluctant to this new way of teaching and learning, well end up halting for a period of time. “ not realistic!” “unable to learn thru screen” “waste of time” “troublesome” etc …… What actually can’t be done? Never try never know.

In fact, I discover so many advantage of going online. Whenever & wherever you are. Time and expenses saving. What else you can actually teaching or learning in your most comfortable environment you want to… Even if you’re traveling (if you’re permitted to)!

Most of my students discover the fun learning online. In fact, their improvement are greater than physical class. Better focus has been created during the process.

What about live performance? No worry, may go online as well. Dozens of music recital, concert and even music festival go online. Same high level of quality being produced. The only different you can now perform in your most comfortable and stressless spot of your house where you used to practice most of the time. As an audience, you may now seated in your favourite chair located in your favourite spot of your most comfy house in your most comfortable outfit, and even with a cup of your favourite drink in hand.

I believe it’s a real hard time not only for musicians, as well for everyone… I always believe there’s a way for us to slot in and enable us to keep our profession going. Although some changes might happened during this period, but might not be all bad.
