Founded: December 2007

Objective: Gather acoustic guitar enthusiasts from all around the region.

Target Members: Amateur to Professional Guitarist

During my participation in MIGFEST, Malaysia International Guitar Festival, I met load of good guitar players. To my surprise most of them are on his or her own and living in their little ring. I was thinking to myself how great it would be to gather all of them under one roof, discussing & sharing thoughts from one another as each of them have their very own unique style of playing.

1^st ACPickers gathering was held in June 2008. Personally I was not able to attend. Mr. Az Samad is our member’s official guest on that day. It was a small gathering of four somewhere near Sunway area. All of those who attended were glad & very satisfied with the gathering.

2^nd ACPickers gathering was bigger, a total of 15 members attended. It was held at one of our member, Zahari’s parents’ house.  It was a happy & unforgertable meet for all of the members.

Sharing on our techniques

1st ever ACPickers Guitar Workshop was held at our member luthier Edward Hiew’s studio in 2008. Mr. Az Samad is our guest speaker for the guitar workshop. During the workshop, not only we learnt from Az but we also get to play and share thoughts and knowledge from member’s different view and sources.

2^nd Guitar Workshop was held the next year, 2009 in Edward Hiew’s studio again. We were please to have Az Samad to conduct the workshop, Az share his touring experiences in US, masterclasses he attended & even share what he learnt from al the guitar maestros… We learn more than we expected. It’s up level learning session for those who attended last year.

During the gathering & workshop,  we share on techniques, songs, compositions, latest news in guitar world, sources of info, even to topics on instruments we play. All members of ACPickers really appreciate each other’s musical approach & knowledge. Behind the ACPickers scenes,  our members remain close relationship as friend who we keep in touch most of the time We occasionally have casual meeting such as tea session or attending concert together and so on.

We are really proud to have some of the best guitarist and luthier around the country who join us. Just to mention a few, Farid Ali, William Kok, Roger Wang, Az Samad and Edward Hiew (Luthier of Freeman Handcrafted Guitar) to share their professional experiences & opinions on guitar.
