The 1st Guitar Charity Night in Malacca was held on November 22, 2008. Music Element and City Music Melaka organized this event with the main objective to raise fund for a handicapped house in Malacca. Introducing the fingerstyles guitar music in Malacca comes in as our second objective. Basically you can say to attract more music enthusiast into acoustic guitar music.
I was fortunate enough to invite some of the top acoustic guitarists in the country to perform here, especially Mr. Roger Wang all the way from Sabah and other award winning guitarist and musician to perform in this very meaningful charity event.
Not forgetting all the support from a good number of local sponsors who make this charitable event a reality.
During the guitar workshop of the event, I realize there are a handy number of guitar lovers here in Melaka who are basically on their own. It would definitely be great to have a gathering of guitar enthusiast in the near future where we can all learn and share in guitar music.
Organizing (and performing in) the event was really an unforgettable experience for me. Teamwork is one of the most important factors while organizing event. Of course good team mates are required. Besides, a well plan schedule is definitely a must, which will enable the event to carry out smoothly.
Artist relationship is another key factor while organizing the event. Without the support of artist the event would not be a success. As an artist myself, it was a great event for sharing of thoughts among ourselves.
Overall, it was quite success considering the 1st ever major guitar event in Malacca, Response was great and I do see the potential to organize this event again in the near future. Will definitely include more activities or even upgrade to a guitar festival to boost public interest.
Well, there’s still lot of rooms for improvements, to be further in the next event.
